Book Reviews: Out of the Blue & The Making of Us

The Making of Us by Lisa Jewell

Official Synopsis from Good reads: “Lydia, Robyn and Dean don’t know each other – yet. They live very different lives but each of them, independently, has always felt that something is missing. What they don’t know is that a letter is about to arrive that will turn their lives upside down. It is a letter containing a secret – one that will bind them together, and shows them what love and family and friendship really mean…”

My take: 3.5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book. The start was a bit shaky and I wasnt quite sure if I was going to like it, but as it progressed it kept getting better! I became very invested in the characters, and I had tears in my eyes by the end of it. It is a beautiful story on how you find people in your life to support you, from all sorts of places, and how to overcome odds.

Out of The Blue by Isabel Wolff

Official Synopsis from Good reads: “Faith Martin, AM-UK ‘s face of the morning weather, is used to delivering the forecast. But this surprisingly unglam celeb is not used to being told the forecast — especially when it concerns her own marriage. After years of wedded bliss, there isn’t much about her husband, Peter, that this thirty-five-year-old doesn’t know. In fact, her quiet family life seems a little to comfy…until a casual remark from Faith’s ultraglam best friend plants a seed of doubt that changes Faith’s perspective. Faith begins to question everything about her humble life — conversations, Peter’s new look and attentions from a handsome new acquaintance. This book is for every woman who has let a breeze of doubt turn into a full-blown hurricane”

My take: 2 out of 5 starts. I did not enjoy this book. It was a tired story, the writing didn’t flow and I was looking forward to finishing it. I think what I didn’t appreciate it is that it was predictable, in the bad sense of the word. I knew where we were going, way before the author wanted me to. I do not recommend it!
