2013 Tony Nominations

Tony Noms are out! (The Tonys are right up there in excitement for me as the Oscars!)

What did I think:

  • I was surprised Kinky Boots got more nominations than Matilda. I loved them both, but have to say Matilda is a better production. I think the only reason for this is that Matilda could have its lead girls nominated
  • Loved that Bring it On was nominated. It is a really fun show that closed too soon – and I’m glad it got some love!
  • It’s kind of funny that lead actor in a musical is going to be a drag race! Both Bertie Carvel and Billy Porter, the two most likely to win, act in drag
  • Loved that Analeigh Ashford as nominated for Kinky Boots – she was great! although I also love Andrea Martin in that Category (my review of Pippin is half a love letter to her)
  • Jessica Chastain should have been nominated for her role in The Heiress I really enjoyed it
  • I was glad, that even though Lucky Guy didn’t have that well of a reception, Tom Hanks still got nominated
