48 Hours in Seattle

I just spent a wonderful weekend in Seattle, it was my first time there and it was a lovely time and a perfect opportunity for a new 48 hour itinerary.

Day 1

8:00am I did the Insider’s Breakfast and Culture Tour of Pike Place Market from Savor. It was so great, I highly recommend this a great way to learn about the market and get the lay of the land. The early start makes it so that you are there without crowds and can see much more and they have great relationships.

Some market highlights and some of the visited stalls…

Bonus points you get your private fish throwing at the Pike Place Fish Market:

and the start is right at the gum wall if that is in your Seattle bucket list.

10:30am I took a walk around downtown, stopping in some of the cute stores

12:00 Went to Ballard neighborhood for lunch at Sabine followed by a walk around Ballard and checking out the cute stores

2:30pm National Nordic Museum troll arriving to….

Ballard Locks, and hanging out with salmon

3:30pm I then went to Kerry park as it really is the best view of Seattle. A must stop. Great tip have an ice cream at Molly Moon’s and walk over

4:00pm Olympic park: great views, great walk & great art.

I walked from the Park to my hotel through the waterfront that gave some great views (piers, Aquarium and the Ferris Wheel)

6:00pm Drinks at Dinner at Canlis. Beautiful location, great piano sounds and wonderful food.

Day 2

9:30am Started with a coffee at Monorail espresso a great little coffee window on my walk

10:00am I had an appointment to go up the Space Needle. If you don’t like to cue, you can get a VIP pass that takes you to the back without lines and gives you a free access to the Chihuly as well.

Is it worth going up? maybe not, but at least I got it in, but the view from Kerry Park was better!

10:30 Chihuly Garden and Glass museum. This might have been my favorite stop in Seattle. It is absolutely gorgeous inside…

…but the gardens are also spectacular and have the best view of the space needle

11:30am A little stop at the Museum of Pop Culture. I was a bit disappointment on it, had higher expectations of it (being a pop museum makes you have big expectations) but the best parts were the more niche info on local pop like the Nirvana and Jimmy Hendrix exhibit and the small fantasy exhibit.

12:30 Brunch at Oddfellows cafe and hanging out around Capitol Hill including the wonderful bookstore Elliot Bay Book co. & the Starbucks Reserve

2:00pm a little visit to the Freemont Troll. Am i the only one who thinks of 10 things about you when I think of this?

3:30pm Take the Water Taxi west to …

.. Alki Beach

7pm: dinner at Stateside. It was fabulous, but sadly just realized whilst I was writing this post that it just closed!
