I was in New Orleans over the weekend, and I had some time to explore the town. My two favorite streets for walking and shopping: Royal and Magazine Street, whose highlights I’ m sharing. (you can access the websites through the links)
ROYAL STREET A great breather from the craziness of bourbon street (it’s just one street down) with some amazing antique stores and galleries
VINTAGE 329 – 329 Royal Street – Probably one of my favorite finds of the weekend. This is a great store for the collector, and a great store for both men and women. I was walking with my cousin and decided to go in because of some earings that I saw on the display. I thought he was going to be bored, but inside, apart from beautiful vintage jewelry, he found amazing music collectibles, and he was entertained for a while! There was a lot to see and buy. They had an impressive (yet definitely too expensive for me) Chanel Vintage jewelry collection
THE SHOP – 509 Royal Street
FLEUR DE PARIS – 523 Royal St … A great hat and vintage store! a must for hat lovers and 20s fans
BEVOLO GAS AND ELECTRIC LIGHTS – 318 royal St. As you can see from the picture, its just a pretty store!
The Rodrigue Art Galerie 730 royal St
And on royal street there was a beautiful store that sold walled masked art! And now I cant find the card but at least I can share the pictures!
MAGAZINE STREET It took me a while to get my bearings straight to go to the right part of magazine street.. therefore I wasnt able to fully explore all the shopping options here – but of where I could explore, there were some great shopping gems that I found
JEZEBEL’S – 4610 Magazine Street – This shop was amazing, a true find for jewelry both old and new! My favorite discovery of the weekend!
THE BEAD SHOP – 4612 Magazine Street – bead paradise… I even decided to buy beads to make some necklaces – I got inspired! I will post my finished products if I ever get around to it
TUPELO HONEY DESIGN – 4326 Magazine St– Beautiful stationary and cards
UPTOWN COSTUME AND DANCEWEAR – 4326 Magazine St – If only I had this store in town when Halloween comes around!
OTHER NEW ORLEANS WALKING HIGHLIGHTS (NON SHOPPING RELATED)
DECATOUR STREET
It all started with CAFE DU MONDE – Even if I can’t have the beignets the coffee was fabulous! (and me skipping an over 1 hour line thanks to a kind waiter just increased my appreciation for the place. I also loved Aunt Sally’s Original Creole Pralines and all the music around!
STREET MUSICIANS – I loved that everywhere I went there was one great street musician after the next! Some highlights:
and of course, BOURBON STREET
