The Oscars last night were a snoozefest of predictability and extended telecast, however i have tried to recollect here some of the memorable items. first my favorite fashion moments, my personal best and worst of the telecast, Fashion and News roundup an of course the full list of winners.
My Favorite Dresses The fashion was almost as dull as the broadcast. I think people are so scared to be on the worst dressed list that they are so safe it’s become boring. I am all for a little risk and some avant garde fashion, so all these simple peplum strapless jewel tone dresses are just not cutting it for me. I miss Cher! So my list of favorite dresses, are the different ones, the ones that had bling and went a little more out there!
- Camila Alves in Giambattista Valli Couture
- Jenna Dewan Tatum in Reem Acra
- Anne Hathaway in Gucci
- Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab Couture
- Jessica Biel in CHANEL Haute Couture
- Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive & Chopard
- Lupita Nyong’o in Prada & Fred Leighton
- Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein & Bulgari
- Portia de Rossi in Naeem Khan
Favorite Moments
- Lupita and Pharrell dancing
- the Ellen selfie
- All the best actors acceptance speeches. Matthew was so calm and collected and inspiring in a very personal way to him; Lupita almost made me cry; Cate calling out studios on making more female films was amazing and Jared Leto can do no wrong in my book (between the single mother and mentioning Venezuela and Ukraine he totally got me!)
- Pink singing Over the Rainbow was surprisingly and unexpectedly good
- Idina Menzel Singing let it go – she did have some off notes, but i still love her and the song.
- The mix of Sidney Poitier and Angelina Jolie – Such class
- The Vanity fair Party Pictures by Mark Selinger. Check them out in the links but here are my favorites:
- The EGOT For Robert Lopez!
Least Favorite Moments
- Ellen – she was a total disappointment. The pizza shtick ran long, the monologue was uneventful and her outfits boring. I want NPH to host the Oscars!!! give me a song and dance number over a bad monologue any day!
- John Travolta – how hard is Idina Menzel’s name to pronounce!
- I did not understand the montages – especially the animated one, why didn’t they use that as a segway for the animation awards? Again extra time I could have used for sleep.
- Bette Middler, I love Wind beneath my wings but I felt she was a off and it didn’t really work at the moment
- The predictability of it all – i like surprises and the unexpectedness of the envelope opening. There was no suspense here.
