The First Monday in May – Met Gala’s 2017 edition

Yesterday was the first monday in May and with it the fabulousness that is the Met Gala. First, my 5 cents for a lot of people covering this who really had no idea about what was going on – the met gala has a theme! This year the theme was Avant garde, and most specifically, the exhibition theme: Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art Of The In-Between.It’s not only about which is the prettiest dress in the carpet, it’s also (and in my mind most importantly) about embracing the theme and wearing something that you really would not wear to a friend’s wedding (or the Oscars given the type of people). This means I thought Rhianna could not have been more appropriately dressed!. Given how little effort some people and designers make, why not just take away from the theme and make them wear the most gorgeous dresses and then it would we much easier! At least it would put all the fashion in the same playing field (albeit a very boring one) As always we will use the same categories: Top 10 of the theme, other great theme dresses, great dresses that have nothing to do with the theme and a special award this time – The you are so boring and failed avant garde award.

Great on theme dresses that although maybe not my style, A+ for effort

Beautiful dresses i loved (that had nothing to do with the theme in my book but where still gorgeous)

And specially today, the you are so boring it was an avant garde carpet category. All these women really could have made a little bit more effort. In an attempt not to be worst dressed the were the most boring
