Testing the World’s 50 best restaurants: Central in Lima

image

I went to Lima, and what did I do? Eat a lot of course! with so many great restaurants how can you not. One of the restaurants I was really looking forward to going was Central, which I had never been. It got named one of the Worlds 50 best this past month so I had to try it in this trip. I thought the restaurant was fabulous!  The ambiance was welcoming but not stuffy, I would call it elegantly casual. The open kitchen is a wonder to look at. As for the food, it was superb! Everything we ate, which was a lot, was fabulous! We totally went overboard and because they told us that the portions were small we ordered 5 appetizers and 4 main dishes between 3 of us – yes we were rolling out of there, but 100% satisfied. I especially liked the salmon appetizer with tree bark granita, the combination was very contrasting. The Octopus was amazing as well, but then again octopus in Lima is always outstanding.  The sauces were really well made and the presentation top notch.  I need to go again!

Here some of the pictures of what we ate :
