When Harry Met Sally is 25 years old… which makes me feel old!

whms

When Harry Met Sally is officially 25 years old. Oh so many memories. However the main question in the movie still remains 25 years later : can men and women really be friends? (For the record my answer is yes). The main quote exemplifies it:  “No man can ever be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He’ll always want to have sex with her”.  However, there is clearly no controversy on the fact that we’ll definitely have what she’s having!

Some of my favorite parts of the movie: the music. So heres some wonderful Harry Connick Jr. for your listening pleasure (you say tomato I say tomato..)

There was some great coverage and articles :

One  was debatable for me, and it was a Vulture list: The 25 Best Romantic Comedies Since When Harry Met Sally. It is a controversial list and apparently I  am not the only one who had issues with the list. They even published a follow up article: 25 Best Romantic Comedies: Ebiri on 10 Omissions Readers Are Angriest About. What are their top 25 movies:

  1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
  2. Notting Hill (1999)
  3. Her (2013)
  4. Punch-Drunk Love (2002)
  5. Groundhog Day (1993)
  6. Defending Your Life (1991)
  7. There’s Something About Mary (1998)
  8. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
  9. Enough Said (2013)
  10. Jerry Maguire (1996)
  11. The Triumph of Love (2001)
  12. Clueless (1995)
  13. The Wedding Banquet (1993)
  14. The Proposal (2009)
  15. About a Boy (2002)
  16. The Wedding Singer (1998)
  17. Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
  18. Knocked Up (2007)
  19. Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
  20. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
  21. 50 First Dates (2004)
  22. 13 Going On 30 (2004)
  23. I Love You, Phillip Morris (2009)
  24. Chasing Amy (1997)
  25. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

i have done my list of my favorite rom coms a while back in the blog, and I had my top 22 with 11 honorable mentions. I only had 5 in common. It made me think, what would i have added to mine? for sure Bridget Jones was a clear omission that i should add, as is the Wedding Singer and About a Boy. But Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as No. 1? I don’t think so. two of my top 3 (Pretty Woman and Love Actually) are not on this list and I do believe they should be.

and to close off the HMS day,  an “i’ll have what she’s having” segment:
