Fall TV is upon us and here are my thoughts on the new shows that have previewed. As always, the same categories!
Season Pass:
Quantico: I really enjoyed this show. Its like if a cop show and Grey’s anatomy had a baby! the characters are all great, the amount of uncertainty and mysteries is great and I cant wait for it to keep developing. Def my favorite show of the fall
Limitless: Loved it. Im a fan of Jake McDorman since Greek and I’m glad he gets to do a lot here! Cameos from Bradley Cooper are not bad at all either.
So far so good: Really liking it, but will wait a little bit more for a full on commitment
Blood and Oil: its a little bit business, a little bit sexy and it could go great or terrible very quickly but im intrigued so far
Grandfathered: It could have been really bad, but its actually fun and cute. John Stamos is just thoroughly charming. Im not sure if im convinced on the casting of his son, but he might grow on me as episode go.
Blindspot: Its just cool and mysterious. I still dont’ know how long they can drag it along but so far im happy.
OK but not great: Willing to give it another episode before I kill it
Minority Report:Dont know yet, I could watch it when Im bored but its probably not going to be one I continuously look forward to.
Neil Patricks Best Night Ever This one hurts because i was so much looking forward to it, but its just not as good as i expected and so not worth the extra hours of television (speaking of which i did this test on Vulture and i watch more tv hours than 88% of the population – i might need to stop)
Code Black: its good, its just not great and its a little bit too gory and in your face for my taste
No way: definitely not seeing another episode
Grinder: I got annoyed and stopped watching before even the end of the first episode. Some great talent, not so great story for me
Life in Pieces:a really stereotypical family comedy. Modern Family already did it, and did it so much better.
Scream Queens: Biggest dissapointment of the season. I was really looking forward to this. It has an amazing cast and its Ryan Murphy. But it was pretty hard to watch. I was covering my eyes. Its just too in your face with the sarcastic killings — too gory and disgusting for me. I thought I was going to get a cool Heathers style show (great movie!) but it did not fill the expectations
The muppets ugh. Ive never been a huge muppet fan (which is a shocker given how kids tv obsessed i am) , so i wasn’t really looking forward to it too much, but this was below my expectations. Its stupid and i forgot how much Miss Piggy irritates me
Dr Ken – This one i can say i refused to watch it. i just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Watching the preview can anyone??
Good but not for me
Heroes Reborn: I mean, if you liked the original heroes it could be ok, but its just not in my wheelhouse.
The bastard executioner: I think I’m reaching my saturation point of blood on my tv schedule.
Caveat: Angel From Hell and Crazy ex girlfriend havent premiered yet so no thoughts so far
how did last years fall watch turn out?
Season Pass: How to get Away with Murder, Scorpion, Madame Secretary, Red Band Society. All of those i still watch and am obsessed with, except the sadly departed Red Band Society that got cancelled after only 13 episodes. I did watch those 13 episodes religiously though.
So far so good: Jane the virgin, A to Z, Happyland, Forever, The Flash. A to Z I stopped watching quickly and it got cancelled even at the same speed. All the rest became season passes in the end for me. Sadly both Forever and Happyland got cancelled after their first seasons so no more from those. That is specially disappointing for Happyland which i had become really obsessed with.
OK but not great: The Mysteries of Laura, Manhattan Love story, Marry Me. Really the only one that remains is The mysteries of Laura, and i ended up watching sporadically when there was nothing else to watch.
No way: Blackish, Cristela, Selfie, Bad Judge. All but one of these got cancelled so im not that terrible a judge of quality.

The best speech: Viola Davis historic speech
