2022 Christmas Movies roundup (Netflix, Apple+, CBS & HBOmax)

So here is a roundup of the 2022 Christmas movies that are not on Hallmark. As always as soon as I watch more I will post them here. I’ve listed them in order of favorites. Also can I say how happy 2022 made me with all the musical movies!. I’ve linked to prior years Xmas movie thoughts: 201220132017,20182019 for Netflix, 2019 Lifetime, 2020 and the full compendium of ABC Family and lifetime Movies for some of the older titles.

Something for Tiffany’s – Amazon Prime A woman gets upended when an engagement ring that was for someone else leads her to the person she’s meant to be with. this is a rom com classic and de tin Christmas just makes it my type of perfect movie. Production values are so high and so much of NU st Christmas which gives me total nostalgia. Zoey Deutch is adorable and a perfect lead – might be my favorite movie this year and takes me back to when they made amazing rom coms movies

Spirited in Apple TV – A musical version of Charles Dickens’ story of a miserly misanthrope who’s taken on a magical journey Asbolutely wonderful. Music is spectacular (I did not expect anything less for Pasek and Paul) and the choreography is so good. I was a bit hesitant with Ryan Rey old and will Ferrell in a musical but I should not have doubted – this is brilliant and an almost perfect Xmas movie

Your Christmas or mine? – Amazon – absolutely adorable family fun.

Christmas with you – Netflix – Feeling career burn out, pop star Angelina escapes to grant a young fan’s wish in small town New York, where she not only finds the inspiration to revitalize her career but also a shot at true love. I’ve said it before – music in a Xmas movie makes it for me. Also mayor nostalgia points for Freddie Prinze Jr!

Holiday Hormony – HBOMax – Singer/songwriter Gail (Annelise Cepero) lands an opportunity to compete for a once-in-a-lifetime shot at the big time, and heads cross country–only getting as far as Harmony Springs, Oklahoma when her ride, her budget and all her hopes are stalled. With just two weeks to get to the iHeartRadio Christmas Eve performance of her dreams, she takes the advice of local Jack-of-all-trades, Jeremy (Jeremy Sumpter), and takes on a group of misfit kids hoping to perform in a Christmas Eve Gala of their own. Gail and Jeremy grow close, but if she’s going to fulfill her lifelong dream, she may have to leave him and the town she’s grown to love behind. Brooke Shields also stars.

The music in this movie is amazing. Her voice is amazing! Her song, This is Christmas, that is on Spotify, is already on my Christmas carol list. I loved the Brooke Shields cameo, such an uncharacteristically role, but she shined in it. I love Musical Christmas movies, it has to be my favorite genre.

The Noel Diary- Natflix The story of a man who returns home on Christmas to settle his estranged mother’s estate. Once there, he discovers a diary that may hold secrets to his own past and of a beautiful young woman on a mysterious journey of her own. There were a lot of tears on this one. Such a sweet story. Also mayor props for the cast, two of my favorites from Station 19 and This is Us in a Christmas Movie – amazing!

Fit for Christmas – CBS Follows Audrey, an enthusiastic Christmas-obsessed fitness instructor who begins a holiday romance with a charming, mysterious businessman. I really like Amanda Kloots so I had to see one. Very much in the vein of a Hallmark movie, sweet, predictable and nice.

Falling for Christmas – NetflixIn the days leading up to Christmas, a young and newly engaged heiress experiences a skiing accident. After being diagnosed with amnesia, she finds herself in the care of the handsome lodge owner and his daughter. I had such high hopes for this one. And granted its not bad, but I expected it to be better. Lindsay Lohan was such a good actress, this felt forced at times. Although a million points for the nostalgia, Lohan and Chord Overstreet, the casting was on point!

A Hollywood Christmas – HBOMax A successful Christmas movie director begins living her own Christmas movie when a handsome network exec shows up threatening to halt production on her latest film.- this is the worst Christmas movie I’ve seen this year – please do not waste your time – they tried to be funny making fun of the Christmas genre and it just ended up being obnoxious and weird. Also I think I disliked every single character
