All About 2024 Christmas Movies

Here you will find the round up of all the 2024 Christmas Movies I’ve watched. As Hallmark has so many I’m dividing it into Hallmark vs others. And as a bonus some thoughts on Christmas Series. Starting with others first as there are less and then we go onto the 30+ hallmark movies. I’ve listed them in order of which one I liked best, with a description and my thoughts (in italics) plus new this year, the absurd award for each movie because we have to keep it interesting. So far 29 movies ranked but I’ll add the new ones as they come.

Other Networks and Streamers

Here ar some of the movies I’ve seen in other streaming networks and Channels that are not Hallmark. As always they are listed in order of preference. These are only 2024 new movies, for older movies here are all the links: 201220132017,20182019, 20222023 for Netflix, 2019 Lifetime, 2020 and the full compendium of ABC Family and lifetime Movies for some of the older titles.

NETFLIX It’s an unforgettable Christmas for the townsfolk of Wellington-on-Sea when the worst snowstorm in history alters everyone’s plans, including Santa’s. This is from the same director as Love Actually and I shows. So much heart and connection, a super sweet and wholesome Christmas story for the whole family. If you watch one movie was a family this Christmas I might venture to say this should be it, a total Christmas Classic in the making. Award for most aligned with the Christmas spirit.

NETFLIX In pursuit of a fairytale romance with the man of her dreams, Layla must race through New York City to get her hands on the hottest ticket in town: the sold out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert. – A Christmas Movie with Pentatonix, there was no way I was going to not love this. Yes there are predictable turns and all of her romantic premises are flawed and antiquated but its still super enjoyable, and again you get Pentatonix, that is 100% more than enough reason to watch this. Award for best song and music

NETFLIX To save her parents’ small-town performing venue, a former big-city dancer decides to stage an all-male, Christmas-themed revue. –  Ok I enjoyed this way more than I should. It was sweet it had heart and Chad Michael Murray dancing is never a bad image. The ending though I had some issues. award for worst hair and best abs

NETFLIX Two resentful exes must awkwardly spend Christmas together after they learn that their new partners are siblings. – I think Lindsay Lohan needs to share with the word who her plastic surgeon/dermatologist/ facialist is , her glow up is amazing. Now onto the movie, I am not the biggest fan of movies where its all about misunderstandings and hiding out personas etc, so this one stressed me out a little, but it was a fun premise and a super cut execution. Also I love Kirsten Chenoweth. Award for most anxiety inducing

LIFETIME A famous singer and a football star begin dating, but their budding romance faces intense public scrutiny, forcing them to decide if their connection is real or merely a publicity stunt by the end of the Christmas season. -Ok I enjoyed this way more than I should. It is definitely made for swifties, and as a swiftie I approve. Definitely low production values, but cute and for Made for TV Xmas movie, much better than I expected. award for most in your face Taylor swift innuendos

GAF A contemporary retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s 1868 classic, following author Jo March as she returns home to celebrate Christmas with sisters Meg, Beth, and Amy. –I was going to stay away from all the GAF movies, but this one I gave a chance as I love Little Women. I maybe should have stayed away. IT is cute, but bland. The cast is pretty good though. award for most disappointing adaptation of a classic

HULU In the most unlikely of places, four siblings find a loving shelter in an unexpected turn of circumstances. This endearing comedy-drama draws inspiration from actual events and deftly crafts a gripping story that unites everyone. I really did not enjoy myself in this movie. It has a sweet premise and some heart, but the execution was just lacking. A lot of the character are grossly underutilized and I cant believe Ben Stiller set himself up for this. It’s ok for Christmas in the background, and the dancing at the end is beautiful but it should have been better. Award for most underutilized ballet potential

NETFLIX Widow Kathy magically brings a snowman to life. His innocence helps her heal and find love again. They bond before the holidays, but he’s doomed to melt. I can not believe I am ranking a Lacey Chabert movie this low, but all i can say is girl , go back to Hallmark where they always give you the best scripts, this was just a NO all around. She made it better buy the premise was dumb. I also want to know who decides oh the Snowman I’m going to make is a hot muscular guy? I was cringing throughout the movie, and for the amount of bad tv movies I watch that is hard to do. Award for most absurd premise and lest hot hot guy

Hallmark

We are only talking about the 2024 releases for Hallmark here. For past years lists these are the links: 2012, 20132016, 2017,2018201920202021 , 2022, 2023 plus the whole pre 2015 summary.

Alana Higman is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Derrick, Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two
finalists. As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfather’s vintage Chiefs good-luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary A lot of things I love here mixed in one, football, Christmas, Hallmark and the hotness that is Tyler Hynes. My favorite Hallmark movie of the season so far and it will be hard to top it. Also the whole cast is great, as are the production values, this one as where a lot of the yearly budget went. I wins the award for best movie for the football fan

When Olivia, a successful interior designer, finds an old letter from Santa promising she’ll meet the love of her life by Christmas Eve—and that his name will be Nick—she’s stunned to meet not one, but three guys named Nick. As she navigates these holiday romances, Olivia also finds herself drawn to her charming co-worker, Chris, throwing her magical Christmas quest into question. With the clock ticking toward Christmas Eve, Olivia embarks on a heartwarming and humorous journey to uncover her true soulmate. I loved the cast, I loved the story, I loved the Christmas magic and I loved the amount of cute guys. Award for most attractive cast of male Main characters

In order to earn her trust fund, Evie is tasked with granting Christmas wishes to the people who saved her life on the night of her birth. To aid in her cause, she employs Kyle, a handsome local attorney, to track down those who helped and attempts to secretly learn what they might want while maintaining her anonymity. With Christmas fast approaching, the heiress and the attorney can’t resist falling for each other’s charms as they ramp up their gift giving efforts. But as time ticks down, will she be able to accomplish the mission and grant all of the wishes by Christmas Eve? Totally predictable yet thoroughly enjoyable and with a wonderful cast. Award for best fashion as an added bonus. I loved the progression and the premise, very much Christmas heartwarming.

When an antique nutcracker set to be auctioned at the Warby family Christmas charity goes missing, a demanding event planner and the heir to the Warby dynasty try to track it down. Great cast, great chemistry and a sweet predictable wonderful hour and a half. Award for most absurd yet adorable meet cute

A successful New York City book editor (Gonzalo), who is losing touch with her passion after a few setbacks this year learns she was chosen to run a bookstore in the small town of Saint Ives for the month of December. While realizing a childhood dream, but butting heads with the handsome son (Penny) of the bookstore owners, she comes to realize that her love for bringing out the creativity of others is still her true calling, and untapped talent (and love) can be found anywhere… even in the writings of a cranky business-minded man, especially at Christmas. Books, christmas, romance, all the good components are here. The cast is wonderful and it is actually not cliche at all, (not to spoil the ending but the high powered executive will remain a high powered executive)  Award for most bookish movie

Best friends Toni and Bri have worked at the same card shop for more years than they should as both struggle to find their true life’s path. This holiday season, Toni and Bri decide to shake up their humdrum world by creating new identities to crash the amazing Christmas parties from the shop’s confidential invitations. All harmless fun! Until Toni gets mistaken for a lawyer, which isn’t too far off the mark since she did finish law school…just never completed the bar exam. Toni and Bri are then whisked away to a fancy corporate Christmas retreat in the snowy Vermont mountains by handsome business mogul, Justin , whose crush on Toni is real even if her legal career isn’t. And Bri is along for the ride as she has eyes for Vinny (Bal), a valet who may have a secret of his own. Can a distraction help Bri find what path in life she’s supposed to follow? Will Toni end up with the guy of her dreams or in a blizzard of trouble? This fun Christmas crashing romp will either end in disaster or two happily-ever-afters! This one was just fun, and I, a miscommunication phobe did not even mind. The fact that it has Chris McNaly didnt hurt. Award for parties I most want to crash.

To prevent her family from canceling the “Chamberlain Family Christmas Olympics,” Jessie lies and says she’s inviting a date to the long-standing holiday tradition. She meets Bryan on a dating app, and he agrees to spend the holiday with her and her family. As Jessie and Bryan engage in eccentric activities like the search for the Christmas tree star, gift wrapping contest and snowball fight, they start to develop real feelings for each other. Soon her family begins to catch on to their secret and Bryan suspects she may be hiding the real reason for her unusual Christmas date request. As the celebrations continue, Jessie must work to keep all her stories straight and save her date with Bryan. I mean do people actually do Christmas Olympics? but after this do I want to do Christmas Olympics? the answer is yes of course. Award for craziest blind date in the world.

Three adult siblings return to their childhood home at Christmas to honor their late grandmother’s wishes and try to agree on new leadership for the family’s company. Enter Annie Merkel – also known as Mrs. Miracle – who poses as an estate planner and uses her special brand of Christmas magic to help the family find common ground and rekindle their bonds. As the siblings try to sort things out, Charlotte also finds herself reconnecting with Austin, the manor’s caretaker and her first love. I had a tear in my eye by the end as shouldn’t that be the aim of a good Christmas, tuck at your heartstrings movie? Tie Award for best accessory (bring on the Mary Poppins purses!)

In the lead-up to Christmas, emergency room doctor Hannah Michaels juggles her demanding job and a budding romance with EMT Wes Sullivan in Philadelphia. They spend time together as Wes helps her become more acquainted with the sights, sounds and tastes of Philadelphia, it’s clear that they’re starting to fall for each other. As the local First Responders balance duty with holiday celebrations, they come together to face challenges, support each other and find moments of joy. I had so much fun watching this. It was different from the usual holiday fare and as a huge fan of first responder shows (i watch Greys, Chicago Med, 911, etc) this was right up my alley. A great different way to look at the holidays. Also loved how well the city of Philly, which I love is presented, and a Mama Kelce cameo! Award for most likely to potentially have been a Chicago one episode

The story begins five years later with the Brenner brothers preparing for another memorable Christmas. In a crazy turn of events, possibly brought on accidently by the brothers themselves, the director of Luke’s son Thomas’ school holiday musical steps down. Luke is desperate to make his son’s stage dreams come true, so he enlists the help of his brothers Taylor and Stephan. Meanwhile, the trio navigates meeting their mom Barbara’s new boyfriend and the brothers grapple with their own feelings about this relationship. In true Brenner brother fashion, they are all in for a Christmas they will never forget. Sequels are hard, because very few sequels are as good as the original. Here is not the case, but since the original movie is one of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies, it means that the sequel even though it doesn’t live up to those expectations it still ranks pretty good. Also again we have Tyler Hynes so you really cant do wrong. Award for most Adorable kid

When Beatrice reluctantly joins her best friend on a trip to the enchanting Christmasland, she’s skeptical of the holiday magic surrounding them. But as she experiences festive traditions and meets a charming stranger named Ethan, she begins to question what’s real and what’s part of the experience. In the end, Christmasland helps Beatrice rediscover hope, love, and the magic of new beginnings. Great music and a great cast. I loved the recreation of all the holiday tropes, and Hallmark poking fun at itself is kind of fun to watch.  award for the prize I most definitely want to win

Whitney , a cautious librarian raised by home security experts, finds herself in a real-life adventure when a blind date mix-up leads her into an undercover FBI operation. Forced to pose as the girlfriend of Special Agent Josh , she helps him track down an art thief targeting the Saint Nicholas Ruby at a Christmas Eve charity ball. As the stakes rise, Whitney must embrace her inner action hero to save the day—and her family—just in time for Christmas. A fun ruse, with great production values and a great cast. Definitely not your traditional Christmas movie, even though it has a Hallmark ending. A little bit of action for your Christmas fare. Award for best dance sequence

When New York City painter Audrey Moss returns to her small Minnesota hometown for the holidays, she’s met with an unexpected quest from her beloved late grandmother: find the owners of five mysterious gold rings and return them to their rightful home before Christmas morning, only nine days away. In her bequeathment, Grandma also urges Audrey to team up with local private investigator and childhood friend, Finn O’Sullivan. From gingerbread house building to the annual Giving Gala, these two begin to bond over more than just their quest. As Audrey and Finn unravel the mystery of the missing rings’ owners, they discover there is more to their relationship than they ever expected to find. I love something that rings original and this truly was. A little bit of a Mystery thrown in and it seems like a great combination with the Hallmark and Mystery Channel. I would have liked more backstory though. Award for most bizarre beyond the grave scavenger hunt

When students all flee an elite university in Vermont for winter break, the locals and faculty hunker down for their favorite time of year – the annual Christmas Bar Trivia Tournament! For Celeste (Sursok), a Type-A astronomy professor, this event combines the magic of Christmas with her greatest comfort in life: knowing the right answer. But when her colleague drops out of the tournament to do a month-long lecture tour in Asia, Celeste’s team must adopt Max (Daugherty), the football team’s new offensive coordinator. To Celeste, Max seems like nothing more than a grown-up class clown – though he brings an undeniable knowledge of sports trivia (a category their team has always fallen short in). Initial clashes between the two eventually turn into mutual appreciation as the team enjoys scavenger hunts on campus, decorating the international house with Christmas lights, baking Christmas cookies, and advancing toward the championship trivia game. Celeste can’t help but delight in Max’s infectious enthusiasm, love for all things Christmas and perhaps most importantly, his comfort with the unknown. And after a romantic wintery night at the campus observatory with Max, Celeste starts to wonder if being open to life’s surprises is more important than knowing the answer to everything. Pub quizzes+ CHristmas + Football and you know I Was going to enjoy this. The FMC is a bit high strung but I guess that’s the story that needs to evolve. Award for pub I most want to be in during Christmas

After moving to New York to make it on Broadway, Violette Wagner gets a job at Fiore’s, a legendary theater district diner, famous for its singing wait staff, who bide their time there, while awaiting that big break. Luck seems to be on her side when she gets a coveted slot, singing during Fiore’s annual Christmas Eve concert, which is attended by a who’s who of the theatre world. But her big opportunity turns out to be a duet with Alex, who has been less than welcoming, and believes she was only given the job because the owner of Fiore’s is a family friend. They’re stuck with each other, though, since people have been plucked out of that show and put right on Broadway. As they rehearse together, Alex’s cousin, Brad, takes an interest in Violette, and they begin dating but, unbeknownst to her, Alex has been feeding Brad information about her, Cyrano-style, to win her over. However, when Alex begins developing feelings for her as well, a love triangle ensues, and things come to a head when their deception is uncovered, which, in turn, threatens Violette and Alex’s big opportunity.T his should have been my favorite movie as it was Broadway and music and totally up my alley but Brad was a drag, and I just didn’t connect as much as I wanted to. It was still la really sweet movie though. Award for best male singer

Rose is a Chicago-based interior designer, whose brother Sal is responsible for a Christmas Charity House Flip back in their suburban Colorado hometown. When a budget crisis puts this important project in danger, Rose reluctantly returns during the holidays to try to save the day. Not ready to face the ghosts of her past, Rose’s plan is to get in, get it done, and get out ASAP. But before she knows it, she is face-to-face with Brysen, her brother’s best friend, contractor and who just so happens to be the bane of Rose’s youth. With the help of friends and family, and buoyed by the season of giving, the trio figures out a way to work together for this worthy cause. As Rose works, she discovers unexpected love and deeper purpose along the way – Enemies to lovers doesn’t make sense when you really don’t know why they hate each other (and he is a Neanderthal doesn’t really cut it) . TG/ dead parents, Award for best Nutella and home goods product placement

Vi, better known as Princess Violet of Wingravia, adores the privileges of being a royal, if none of the responsibilities. After being disappointed by Vi one time too many, the Queen decides to test her daughter’s mettle once and for all and issues an ultimatum: Vi must pass a vigorous leadership boot camp in Colorado or lose the throne to her uncle. At boot camp, Vi and her fellow cadets are put through a rigorous grind under the uncompromising supervision of Captain Ryan Douglas. Anything with Derek Klena is great, and getting him to sing in a military movie wins this mayor points, even if the story is predictable and Vi’s accent is appalling.. Award for most gratuitous musical interlude

Avery is an unadventurous schoolteacher whose sister secretly signs her up for The Great Holiday Dash, a Christmas-themed reality competition show where she’s paired with former hockey player Wes. Despite clashing at first, Avery’s puzzle-solving skills and Wes’ physical prowess help them excel as they travel from city to city and compete in festive feats that have a local flavor. It’s not long before a real connection between these opposites begins to blossom. But when Avery overhears a conversation between Wes and a show producer it threatens to derail their budding romance. Keeping their eyes on the prize, the duo continues to dash to the finish line but there may be a more personal adventure for them still in store. The premise seemed like one of my favorites and the execution was ok, it just didn’t gel to be one of my favorites. It was good not great. I think it was I just didn’t love their chemistry? Award for most Amazing race inspired

An archeologist and her ex-husband, an expert in ancient Norse languages, are sent to Iceland at Christmastime to search for the legendary treasure of the Yule Lads. When others join in the hunt, the pair find themselves swept into a thrilling adventure as they race to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. Ok what is going on this year with Lacey Chabert. The Queen of Christmas is failing me this year. This one should have been top of my list, it had the prestige weekend, the production value, the location and the great costar. However something left me lacking. IT was too Indiana Jones and she is not an Indiana jones type of person. In trying to be original it just seemed too forced. I liked it just didn’t love it and could see too many flaws in its beautiful Icelandic locale (the production values I cant criticize they were great) Award for most beautiful location

Workaholic lawyer Lucy Miller is celebrating her promotion alone on Christmas Eve when a mysterious rideshare experience transports her back to 1999. Reliving the holiday with her mom, sister and best friend – not to mention her high school crush – Lucy gets a second chance to understand where her relationships went wrong. Will this magical journey help her rewrite her future or leave her destined to be alone? – AS you only do Christmas Past is this a 1/3 of a Christmas carol? maybe is it why its a third good? I mean it was ok, it just as with most time travel/ magic/ change years of your life and no one cares premises there are a lot of issues to nitpick. Should mention some TW for dead parents. award for least useful ghost of Christmas past/sentient being

Emilyhas always dreamed of creating the perfect Christmas, meticulously planning every detail year after year, only to feel like she’s falling short. Hoping to bring her family closer together, she makes a wish for a holiday as picture-perfect as the ones she sees in a made-for-TV holiday movie. To her shock, Sugarplum, the film’s relentlessly optimistic main character, magically steps off the screen to make Emily’s wish come true — whether she’s ready for it or not. As Sugarplum applies her movie-world rules to real life, Emily gets caught up in the possibility of finally achieving the flawless family Christmas. But when Sugarplum’s magical fixes start to backfire one by one, Emily begins to question what an ideal holiday really is. With time running out, Emily and Sugarplum find themselves on a heartwarming adventure – one that might just amount to an entirely different kind of Christmastime perfection. A quirky and cute premise that is really well acted but the mom was just a little bit to annoying. It is however a power due and therefore wins the Award for best female duo. But like Hallmark I’m loving the multiple making fun of yourself movies. Also here see the tie for the Award for best accessory (bring on the Mary Poppins purses!) (really one season two Mary Poppins purses) who edits these things???

Lauren and Kevin were once deeply in love but nearly a year after their separation, they now focus on co-parenting their young son Charlie (Ezra Wilson). Despite the split, Kevin is determined to make their family whole again. Before Lauren’s mother (Laura Soltis) visits during the holidays, Lauren asks Kevin to pretend they’re still happily married and living under one roof. The act quickly feels more real, stirring up old memories and feelings. As Lauren sees the man she once fell in love with in a new light, perhaps the magic of Christmas will rekindle their romance and spark renewed hope for their future. It was cute heartfelt fun that writing about it a couple weeks out I could not remember anything about it, so maybe fun but forgettable? I did enjoy the cast. Award for most realistic family dynamics

For Asha Singh, Christmas is the most important time of the year. But when she’s stuck working at the hospital during the holidays, she wishes for some much-needed Christmas magic. Enter Jake , her former high school classmate, who unexpectedly reappears in her life. After a magical year together, Jake proposes. But their first Christmas as an engaged couple isn’t exactly the fairytale they imagined. When they head home for the holidays, they quickly discover their picture-perfect romance is about to get a serious reality check: their families couldn’t be more different! Juggling various holiday traditions, big personalities, cultural differences and complicated family dynamics proves to be a challenge as Asha and Jake have to learn if they can bridge their two families and survive a Christmas with the Singhs. Mayor points for the cross cultural but really her family was just too annoying and the dad was too much of a caricature, the other dad who won worse dad was so bad that he didn’t win but he was a runner up! It has potential thought , good way to go forward. Award for best cross cultural effort

Emily is always reluctant to return home to her family’s animal rescue ranch — but when her mother passes away, her brother Nick requests her help organizing the annual Christmas Carnival. When she arrives, she discovers Nick’s friend, Luke , staying at the ranch — and that Luke was once a successful artist who works with light. Though initially reluctant to collaborate, Emily and Luke work hard to pull off the best, most light-filled carnival the town has ever seen, a healing celebration of Emily’s mother’s legacy and the magic of Christmas — and along the way feel sparks of romance as radiant as the lights themselves –  This movie wins the Award for most annoying town , why you might as, their “what no merry Xmas” was just too much for me. Also second award for most overhyped work of art. If the movie is about an artist and she is inspiring art and then the reveal is really lame art then the premise just flops in my opinion. Did you guess I didn’t love this? Mayor points for her not leaving everything and going to the farm because that would just have wanted me to throw the movie out the window.

Ok I’m joining the four movies of Unwrapping Christmas together here: Meet Tina, Mia, Lily and Oliva – four friends who work together at Tina’s shop, All Wrapped Up. Each woman brings their unique strengths in helping the store be successful, and each woman must find her own path to happiness and to love.- The issue here is that it wins for most unrealistic expectations. Why would you say? After the amazing groomsmen series I had such high expectations for this, but the groomsmen happens within the lapse of a couple of years. Here you are meant to make me believe that 4 best friends who run a store together (that also i do not understand how a store that only wraps paper sustains their lifestyles, but I digress) find love, all four of them in the same 2 weeks before Christmas. It’s just to predictable lame. Also the female casting is great but I did not love the male casting so that looses even more points. If for the groomsmen I would have said it was a reason to get Hallmark + this is a reason why not to.

When free-spirited Kath (Rhea) and uptight Barbara (Broderick) clash at a Christmas committee meeting, they’re shocked to discover they’ve accidentally set up their adult children via a dating app. Determined to stop the romance, the two mothers team up, only to realize they have more in common than they thought. As their kids’ love blossoms, so does an unexpected friendship between their meddling moms, bringing both families together for a festive Christmas. I love the Sabrina nostalgia but they were too annoying for me to enjoy this. Award for most meddling mother in laws.

When Celeste gets engaged to Jason after just a few months of dating, her father and the couple’s would be officiant, Pastor Mark, insists on putting them through a pre-wedding “bootcamp” filled with Christmas-themed challenges. As the couple grows stronger through the festive activities, Celeste considers following her dreams in the fashion industry. Meanwhile, Pastor Mark learns to trust his daughter’s choices, leading to a heartwarming holiday season for the whole family. Absurd family dynamics, absolutely no chemistry and a very played out traditional storyline and it just means this has been my least favorite movie of the season. As a bonus, Award for most annoying dad

One of my favorite things this season wre the Christmas series in Hallmark+ :

WA neighborhood of families explore what it means to celebrate both the chaos and the joy of the holiday season. I am absolutely loving this series. The casts are amazing, the intertwines of the families are great and the stories are real, heartfelt and true. It does not feel predicable, or fake. The stories really wring true of the holiday dramas that can occur during the season and how different families navigate them HIGHLY recommend and this is a great series for everybody not just constant Hallmark viewers like me

Christmas shop owner Emily Lane uses secret skills to investigate a murder when a poisoned cookie links her to the crime. Detective Sam Wilner navigates the holidays with daughter Violet. this was rough. Don’t get me wrong I saw all the episodes and enjoyed them, and really as an April Kepner Grey Anatomy fan I was rooting for this, but I Have to be honest and this is not for everybody. IT is a bit absurd that you have 3 murders in the same little town in the month of Christmas and all involve Emily. (at least the other murder series spread them out during the year). Additionally the secretiveness of her background more than cool was annoying. I however loved the cliffhanger ending and would totally watch a season 2, yet I am a captive Hallmark audience.

im currently watching the others and will report shortly.
