Food Picture Diaries: Holiday NY Edition Part 1: Le Bernadin, White Street, del Posto and the Modern

Bernardin: We went to Le Bernadin for Xmas Eve diner and it was spectacular. As always it shows why it has 3 Michelin stars, they are all utterly deserved. The Langoustine as well as the Surf and Turf were my favorites!! These are some of the highlights that we had: OCTOPUS: Warm Octopus “Carpaccio”; Leek Compote, Peruvian Anticucho Sauce IMG_0502 BAY SCALLOP-SEA URCHIN – Nantucket Bay Scallops; Marinated Granny Smith, Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette IMG_0497 SALMON – Wild Salmon Tartare; Harissa Aoili, Saffron Pickled Shallots, Charred Lemon Vinaigrette IMG_0496 LOBSTER– Lobster “Lasagna”; Celeriac, Truffle Butter IMG_0503 LANGOUSTINE – Sautéed Langoustine; Truffle and Chanterelle, Aged Balsamic Vinaigrette IMG_0506 WHITE TUNA-KOBE BEEF – Grilled Escolar and Seared Wagyu Beef; Fresh Kimchi Asian Pear, Soy-Lemon Emulsion IMG_0504 DOVER SOLE – Sautéed Dover Sole; “Almond-Pistachio Barberry Golden Basmati” Chardonnay-Shallot IMG_0505 IMG_0507 White Street: One of my new favorite restaurants in NY. The food is delicious, aand also the setting is really beautiful. A great place for groups as it has many banquet style tables, great for 5+ groups so you don’t hae to be in long un conversational tables. What did I order: SEARED PECONIC BAY SCALLOPS – orange, fennel, indian coriander – this was a light and perfectly nice dish, but if you are going I recommend for appetizer the Squid Ink Bucatini. I didn’t have it because it had gluten but my sister did and it looked spectacular (and she said it tasted amazing too!) IMG_0604 GLAZED SHORT RIBS OF BEEF – oat risotto, horseradish, shoestring potatoes – This was amazing! A must try dish. IT had some great balance of texture and spices. IMG_0605 Del Posto: I love Del Posto because they have the best gluten free pasta menu I’ve ever been too. What I especially love about them is that they have a lot of gluten free filled pasta, where as in most places the gluten free option is limited to dry store bought pasta with the available sauces. It is accurate to say that I had a pasta fest!!! my dishes: LUNA PIENA Castelmagno & White Truffle Butter (with lots and lots of white truffle on top)IMG_0578 Pork and Veal AGNOLOTTI Sugo Finto & Cauliflower Cacio e PepeIMG_0581 and to top it off a great Wine ad gluten free focaccia IMG_0576   The modern – Everything was spectacular as always, but have to love the truffles!!! /home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/7b0/40184572/files/2015/01/img_0608.jpg /home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/7b0/40184572/files/2015/01/img_0610.jpg /home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/7b0/40184572/files/2015/01/img_0609.jpg /home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/7b0/40184572/files/2015/01/img_0617.jpg
